Governor Robert Bentley has signed a bill into law allowing the Anniston city council to put Sunday alcohol sales up for a vote by the community. Mayor Vaughn Stewart says the council could act on this within the next two months. The council requested the bill because they want to attract ecotourists who may want a place to hang out and grab a drink on Sundays. If the Sunday sales are approved, Anniston will be the only city in a seven county area to have such an ordinance. A similar bill for the city of Weaver is awaiting a vote in the legislature.
