The wife of a Fort Benning soldier has been arrested in connection with the discovery of her husband’s dead body in a ditch. The Associated Press reports 34-year-old Gloria Wilson was arrested on Tuesday in connection with her husband's death. According to The Columbus Ledger-Inquirer, 34-year-old Sgt. Donald Wilson was found dead early Monday morning in the small town of Seale--about 20 miles west of Fort Benning.
The sergeant's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds. According to The Ledger-Inquirer, Wilson’s vehicle was found burning in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Phenix City. Police tell the AP the woman is being held in the Russell County Jail. Media reports say Wilson allegedly spoke to an acquaintance late Sunday and officials estimate he was shot no more than four hours later.
The Ledger-Inquirer report says Wilson would have soon received a promotion to sergeant first class.
