Anniston police stayed busy over the weekend after five cars throughout Anniston were either vandalized or stolen. A 1995 Ford Aerostar was reported stolen from The Salvation Army on Noble street early Monday morning. Anniston Police Sgt. Chris Sparks said a suspect was apprehended in Cleburne County a few hours later. Calls to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office have not yet been returned.
According to police reports, 1996 Ford Crown Victoria was reported stolen from a residence on Adams Street just west of downtown Anniston sometime late Friday or early Saturday.
Police reports also indicate a 2003 Ford F-150 was reported stolen from McArthur Drive on Saturday. Sparks said that truck was later located and a suspect was arrested on separate charges. According to police reports, potential suspects in the three thefts could face felony theft charges.
A 1994 Ford F-150 was vandalized on West 43rd Street sometime early Sunday morning. Police reports indicate a side window and ignition switch were both broken. A 1995 Ford Ranger on the 800 block of Old Gadsden Highway was also damaged after a rear window was reportedly broken. Potential suspects in the vandalism incidents might face a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge on each vehicle.
Sparks said the crimes are being investigated as separate incidents and police are currently following up on leads.
