A new regional partnership is expected to raise money for improvements at the former Fort McClellan military base in Anniston. Officials representing several cities in Calhoun County, as well as the Calhoun County commission, Jacksonville State University and Gadsden State Community College, announced the partnership today. Their goal is to raise $9 million dollars for repaving projects. Officials say other groups are invited to join as well. "Fort McClellan impacted more than just Calhoun County. It impacted lives well beyond that, too. So, we continue to reach out and grow and that door is wide open for anybody that wants to step in," Anniston councilor Jay Jenkins said. Some of the money would come from the cities and county themselves, and some would come from federal grants.
