It has been confirmed that the victim killed Tuesday night in a fatal accident works for an Alabama radio station. The wreck happened around 8:50 p.m. last night on I-459 northbound near the Acton Road exit about a mile north of Hoover.
State troopers identify the victim as 35-year-old Sam Foster of Alabaster. Troopers say Foster was driving a 2005 Mazda Tribute when it struck a 2009 Toyota Avalon, left the road and overturned.
Troopers say Foster was not wearing a seatbelt and speed was a factor in the wreck. Foster was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
Foster worked at 106.9 The Eagle and was in the radio station's vehicle at the time of the accident.
A show called "Midnight Meltdown" that aired on ESPN 97.3 released this statement: We were informed last night that Sam Foster, a great part of the show, author of our theme song, and one of our best friends - passed away last night in a car accident. Sam was the life of our office, and brought a smile everywhere he went. He was the hardest worker and most positive person you'd ever know. Our thoughts and prayers are with his son and the rest of his family.
The accident is still under investigation.
