An inmate sentenced in Shelby County for theft has reportedly escaped from a community facility in Alexander City. The Alabama Department of Corrections reports inmate Daniel Lee Bass did not return from a restroom break at his job site and was reported missing around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Bass was sentenced in September 2012 to five years in prison for theft of property. He was denied parole in February 2013, but scheduled to complete his sentence on March 8, 2014. Other law enforcement agencies have been notified about Bass' escape. He is described as a white male, 5'9", weighing 165 pounds with brown eyes and red hair. Anyone with information about his location is asked to call a local law enforcement agency.
