At least two area residents in Monday’s Boston Marathon are left unharmed after explosions injure more than 100 people. About two hours after a pair of bombs were detonated on the route of the Boston Marathon on Monday, The Anniston Star reported via Twitter that Spring Garden High School basketball coach Ricky Austin and Jacksonville State University assistant men’s basketball coach Tom Schuberth were both okay. Star staff was reportedly in contact with the two Alabama men through phone calls and text messages shortly after the explosions. Austin told The Star that he was back in his hotel room when he started receiving calls asking about the explosions. News of Schuberth’s condition was a little more delayed but he sent a text message to Star staff shortly after 5 p.m. saying that he, too, was safe. By early Tuesday, published reports say three people were killed and about 145 were injured by the two explosions on Boylston Street in Boston. Police have not named any suspects.
