On March 26, 2013, an 18 year old Georgia woman told police she was robbed at knife point inside her room at the Motel 6, located at 1600 Rainbow Drive. The woman said she came to Gadsden to do some dancing and was staying at the room which was paid for by an acquaintance. She answered a knock to the door, thinking it was the acquaintance, and a black male entered the room, held a knife to her throat and took $400 in cash and her cell phone before fleeing the scene. The incident is under investigation. On March 29, 2013, around 1:00 pm, police responded with the Fire Department to Gadsden Inn & Suites (200 Albert Rains Blvd.) to a possible meth lab explosion. They arrived to find the tenant, a 56 year old white male with multiple burns to his feet and legs, attempting to leave the scene. The man was detained and police found evidence of meth production inside the room near the fire. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident is under investigation. On March 30, 2013, around 1:20 pm, a man said he was robbed in the parking lot of Forrest River Apartments while selling tickets for his church. The man told police a younger man bought 3 tickets - then grabbed $50 and ran away. The incident is under investigation. On March 30, 2013, at 12:37 am, a 19 year old woman told police she was robbed five hours earlier in the 800 block of Tuscaloosa Avenue. She said she was stopped in traffic at 6th Street & Tuscaloosa Avenue when a man came up to her driver's side window, armed with a handgun, and demanded her wallet. She told him she didn't have a wallet but gave him $180 in cash and he fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. She identified one of the suspects to police. The incident is under investigation. On March 31, 2013, around 9:00 pm, a 23 year old woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint while stopped in traffic on Hoke Street near East Broad Street. She said she was stopped in front of Coffey's Gun Shop when a young male (16-18) armed with an Uzi type gun jumped into the backseat of her vehicle and told her to give him everything. She handed him $10 and her cell phone and he got out of her car and ran away. The incident is under investigation.
