Longtime University of Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore has passed away at the age of 73. Moore first arrived at the Capstone to play football as a quarterback and then went on to coach under Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. As a coach, player and athletic director Moore has been a part of 10 national championships (1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011 and 2012), 16 SEC championships, and 39 bowl trips. Moore was born in Dozier, Alabama in 1939. According to RollTide.com he was married to Charlotte Davis of Tuscaloosa for 41 years before she passed away after a long illness in 2010. He is survived by his daughter Heather, granddaughter, Anna Lee, and grandson, Charles Cannon.
