The Anniston City Council on Tuesday approved the Class I Retail Liquor application for Lil Dixie’s Cue and Grill on the 900 block of Noble Street, but not before attorney Mike LaPlant requested the application be denied.
LaPlant told the council he was representing Dave Mogul, owner of the neighboring restaurant Damn Yankees. He said "there is a large contingent of business owners, property owners and residents that live in that general area that were in opposition to a liquor license being granted."
LaPlant said one major concern of his client would be noise generated from the restaurant, which also hosts dart and pool events. Council member Jay Jenkins asked LaPlant if he represented any of the other business owners in the area, to which LaPlant responded no.
Troy Shaneyfelt, owner of Robinson’s Western Auto less than a block away from Lil Dixie’s Cue and Grill, said he expects noise from any neighboring business that serves alcohol and was not opposed to the council approving the application. "Lil Dixie to have her liquor license at that establishment would be no different than what happens at Dave's [restaurant Damn Yankees], the Crimson Tiger, or any other bar on that street," Shaneyfelt told the council. The application was unanimously approved by the council.
