Every suspect is entitled to his day in court, but for accused Auburn shooting suspect Desmonte Leonard, Wednesday's hearing had to be postponed because no one thought to bring him. The hearing was set for Wednesday afternoon in Lee County, but Leonard is being held in Montgomery. According to his attorney, Susan James, he was never transported the 50 or so miles from Montgomery to the Lee County Detention Facility. James called the lapse a miscommunication with the Auburn Police Department. Leonard's trial date was expected to be set at the hearing, along with several other motions. But because he was not present, the hearing had to be pushed back to May 16. Leonard is accused of fatally shooting three people at a party in Auburn last summer. Several others were also wounded. A manhunt for Leonard ended when he turned himself in through James, who then took on his case.
