The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed Calhoun County and surrounding areas under a Hazardous Weather Outlook. More than half of the state is being warned about a chance of severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening that may produce damaging straight-line winds and hail up to 2-inches in diameter.
A National Weather Service release on Monday says that dry conditions through the rest of the week might lead to a potential fire danger across central Alabama. In all, 39 counties are under the Hazardous Weather Outlook which is expected to last for a majority of the week.
