A press release issued on Thursday says VictoryLand Greyhound Racing will be reopening the simulcast racing facilities on Friday. Officials with VictoryLand plan to open at 10:30 a.m. with pari-mutuel wagering beginning at 11 a.m. "We are happy to reopen and put some of our employees back to work. It is a great loss of income to many more of our employees who have lost their jobs due to the illegal forced closing on Feb. 19th by the Alabama Attorney General. At one time we employed approximately 2,000 people at VictoryLand, and I'm looking forward to having all of them back at work here as soon as possible." VictoryLand President Milton McGregor said in the release. This comes after the recent raid against VictoryLand by Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange in mid-February. Strange's office says the facility was offering illegal electronic bingo gaming. The gaming machines and some cash were seized in that raid.
