The Anniston Star reports 23 year-old Willie Lee Rolley on Saturday refused to return to his cell around 8:30 a.m. after his allotted time. When a deputy tried to return the inmate to his cell, The Star reports Rolley attacked the deputy.
Other officers were able to subdue the inmate and the original deputy was not seriously injured. As a result, Rolley has been charged with second degree assault. Chief Deputy Matthew Wade says Rolley has been disciplined 46 times for outbursts against officers and fellow inmates. Authorities say Rolley of Huntsville has been in the Calhoun County Jail since November, on hold for the U.S. Marshal service.
He has a court date scheduled for April 11.
