Anniston interim police Chief Shane Denham told The Anniston Star the bodies of a man and a woman were removed from a home on Asbury Avenue in the Saks area around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The ordeal began around noon when police were called for a possible domestic assault at the home.
The Star reports a neighbor called 911 when a man jumped from a window at the home and told the neighbor someone had been stabbed. Police were unsuccessful in making contact with anyone in the home, and The Star reports power was disconnected to the house in order to turn off security cameras outside of the house.
Streets in the neighborhood were blocked off and sometime after 5 p.m. police fired tear gas into the house. Police used a robotic device to search the house and discovered two dead bodies. Denham told The Star it appears the woman had been stabbed. Police say the victims have not been identified and names would not be released until sometime Monday.
