Twelve people were injured in a one-vehicle wreck involving a van. The van was heading to Birmingham from Montgomery when the accident happened. Calera Police were forced to shutdown the northbound side of Interstate 65, causing a back up for approximately five miles. The passengers of the van have been transported to different hospitals. The extent of their injuries are unknown. Emergency crews are on the scene of the wreck on I-65 North in Calera, near mile marker 228. Information is limited, but it appears a utility van has flipped on its side, causing traffic to back up for miles. Several ambulances and rescue workers were present on the scene. Calera Police officers are also on site investigating the accident.
