Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley is set to begin his fourth day of testimony in Alabama's gambling corruption trial.
Defense attorneys will continue their questioning of Gilley on Tuesday morning. Gilley has testified that he worked with all six defendants in the trial to buy and sell votes for pro-gambling legislation. Under questioning by defense attorneys, Gilley said he hopes his guilty plea and cooperation with prosecutors will result in a lighter sentence. He's scheduled for sentencing in April.
On trial are VictoryLand casino owner Milton McGregor, state Sen. Harrri Anne Smith, former Sens. Larry Means and Jim Preuitt, casino lobbyist Tom Coker and casino spokesman Jay Walker.
