Gadsden police are investigating a sexual assault and attempted robbery that happened last Friday. A 34-year-old woman from east Gadsden told police she was assaulted while walking through woods behind Johnson's on East Meighan Blvd. The victim says a middle aged Hispanic man armed with a small handgun approached her and demanded money. Police say it happened around 5:30 p.m. March 1. "When she told the man she didn't have any money he began to search through her pockets and fondled her," Captain Bobby Jackson with GPD said. The woman ran away and called police from her home. The investigation is on-going.
