Sunday alcohol sales are now a question for Talladega County leaders. The Daily Home reports the Talladega City Council approved a resolution Monday night that will ask the state legislature to let Talladega County voters decide on Sunday liquor sales.
Talladega City Councilman Joe Ballow abstained from the vote but did not elaborate on his reasons, telling The Daily Home “it’s just my opinion.” According to The Daily Home, Lincoln and Sylacauga city lawmakers are expected to pass similar resolutions later this week.
A similar bill currently working its way through Montgomery seeks to let Anniston voters decide on Sunday alcohol sales. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh sponsored a bill last month that would allow Anniston voters decide the fate of Sunday alcohol sales within city limits.
Senate Bill 182, or the Anniston Ecotourism Beverage Bill, passed out of the Senate last week and is now waiting for review by a House committee.
