Auburn fans were invited to Hoover on Saturday for the planting of a seedling from a poisoned oak tree at Toomer’s Corner. AL.com reports the ceremony was held at the Aldridge Gardes and the seedling was donated by the garden’s founder Eddie Aldridge.
The trees were planted at the 30-acre public garden in Hoover as part of the city’s Arbor Day celebrations over the weekend. Auburn University officials will be removing the poisoned trees from Toomer’s Corner after they were poisoned in 2010 during the Tigers’ run to the national championship.
University of Alabama fan Harvey Updyke is accused of poisoning the trees and is scheduled to stand trial in April.
