The attorney for one of the Alabama football players kicked off the team and out of school says he is shocked by the university's move. Attorney Jason Neff represents Brent Calloway, one of the former UA football players arrested. Neff says at most they thought he could be suspended from school at a later date, but not kicked out two weeks after his arrest. According to Neff, Brent is still in Tuscaloosa and living with a friend off campus right now. They claim school officials said he could finish out the semester while they investigated the charges against him. Calloway faces fraudulent use of a credit card charges. Three other football players are accused of beating up two students and taking their property which included cash, a laptop and debit and credit cards. Calloway is only accused of using a stolen student action card to buy snacks from a vending machine in Bryant Hall.
Neff feels that Calloway is being lumped together with the other former players. "Brent is a student who was a football player. He's got caught up in a terrible situation and so depending on how this plays out its going to affect his life for a long time and so I think Brent would want people to know he's human too and people do make mistakes," Jason Neff said. Neff believes the campus review also considered a prior marijuana case against Calloway in its decision. Calloway and the other players are scheduled to appear in court in about three weeks.
