Commercial development for a shopping center being constructed in Oxford may cost an extra $3 million or more. The Anniston Star reports Oxford’s Commercial Development Authority next week will discuss the additional $3.3 million figure but details about how the money will be spent are vague, at best.
Former CDA Chairman Dwight Rice resigned from the board earlier this month and board member Mike Watts told The Star that he is unsure who currently chairs the board. Questions were asked if the money might be used to repair a sinkhole that developed last month and a representative of the company developing the site said he was not at liberty to talk about it right now.
According to The Star, the public CDA meeting concerning the $3.3 million is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Oxford City Hall.
