The father of Reuben Foster, a five-star linebacker from Auburn High School that signed to play football at the University of Alabama on Wednesday, has been arrested after a 16-year run from authorities.
Danny Foster, 41, was taken into custody in South Florida at 11 a.m. on Friday and is currently being held in the main jail in Broward County.
In 1995, the elder Foster shot his wife, Inita Berry Paige, and indirectly wounded his then 18-month-old son, Reuben. Paige was holding their son when she was shot and Reuben sustained a gunshot wound to his back, according to report from the Miami Herald.
Foster was indicted in Randolph County, Ala. in 1996 for the shooting, but he fled to California before the trial began. He was arrested and extradited back to Alabama in March of 1996, but Foster managed to escape the Randolph County Jail and remained at large until today. Currently, the Broward County Sheriff's Offices lists two charges against Foster: Fraud (Attempting to use another person's ID without consent) and First Degree Escape.
