The Calhoun County Commission has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Energy Division. The award will allow improvements to be made at the Calhoun County Jail. The plan is to make energy efficient HVAC upgrades in the jail. The total cost of the project is $30,000 with Calhoun County covering the remaining $10,000 for the project. The project must be completed by September 29. The upgrades will allow for more efficient operation and reduce heating and cooling costs.
