A weekend shooting leaves the Ashland police chief in critical condition and his wife in jail. Ashland police chief Benny Davis was in critical condition at UAB hospital on Monday according to The Anniston Star after being shot Saturday afternoon.
Little information about the shooting has been released but Ashland Mayor Larry Fetner told The Star that a bullet hit Davis in the side and broke a rib. Fetner said he is still waiting on a release from the Alabama Bureau of Investigations, who is currently investigating the shooting.
Felecia Davis was arrested on Saturday and charged with attempted murder. The 42-year-old woman is currently being held in the Randolph County Jail. Fetner told The Star that doctors are optimistic about the police chief’s recovery.
