Two Anniston museums will be hosting events highlighting the Chinese New Year and Black History Month in February. Two separate events will be hosted in the museum district of Anniston that will celebrate cultural diversity around Calhoun County.
According to AL.com, “The Chinese New Year Celebration: Year of the Water Snake” will begin Saturday, Feb. 9 and will include storytelling and paper folding demonstrations to ring in the Chinese New Year, which is officially the following day.
Tours of the museum basement will also be available that feature Asian treasures. According to AL.com, special event items will remain on display through Feb. 24.
On Feb. 16 the Longleaf Botanical Gardens will hold the 33rd annual Black Heritage Festival. Previous events have drawn crowds of up to 900, museum organizers said.
