Tina Watson's father, Tommy Thomas, said today that he's pleased with the way the first week of testimony in the Gabe Watson honeymoon death trial is going.
Gabe Watson is charged with capital murder in Tina's death during a scuba dive in Australia. Gabe and Tina wed on Alabama on October 11, 2003. As part of their honeymoon trip they took a dive trip off the historic SS Yongala Shipwreck site. That is where Tina died.
Prosecutors with the state attorney general's office claim Gabe killed Tina to get his hands on more than $200,000 of life insurance and travel insurance.
Tommy Thomas said that while listening to testimony during the trial causes him to relive the pain of his daughter's death, he said getting the evidence before a jury is what he and his family have fought for since Tina died 8 years ago.
"Right now, this is another opportunity for me to get any more information I haven't already gotten of what truly happened to my daughter," Thomas said in an interview Friday afternoon. "It's about to me, the real victim in this case, and that was Cindy and I's daughter. It was Alanda's sister and alot of Tina's friends."
