An accidental shooting in Calhoun County took the life of a 12-year-old boy. Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson says the victim, William Parris, was accidentally shot by his cousin at the cousin's home in Pleasant Valley. It happened around 3 p.m. January 8. The tragedy occurred when the cousin, who is also 12 years old, wanted to show William a shotgun he had received for Christmas. He accidentally fired the shot that fatally struck William in the chest while the boy was playing on a trampoline outside.
Sheriff Amerson says the cousin did not know the gun was loaded, and will not be charged because it was an accident.
