In the eyes of the 60 voters in the Associated Press poll, Alabama's close call against No. 5 LSU did nothing but reaffirm that the Crimson Tide was the No. 1 team in the country.
Alabama collected all 60 first-place votes for the second consecutive week and fifth time in the past six. It marks a program-record 10th straight week it has been the No. 1 team in the AP poll.
Check out where Alabama is ranked in this week's coaches' poll.
Like it did in the coaches' poll, LSU dropped four spots to No. 9 after its 21-17 loss to the Crimson Tide.
Texas A&M, which is ranked No. 14 in the coaches' poll, comes in at No. 15 in this week's AP poll. The Aggies, whom Alabama hosts Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, have combined to score 101 points in their last two games.
If Alabama and Georgia both win Saturday, the SEC championship game will be set. The Bulldogs took over LSU's spot at No. 5, sharing it with Ohio State. The Buckeyes, though, are not eligible for post-season play because of NCAA sanctions.
