Prosecutors in Alabama's gambling corruption trial say their next witnesses will be former state Sen. Steve French, state Ethics Commission Executive Director Jim Sumner and Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley.
Prosecutors had initially planned to call Gilley to the witness stand Wednesday morning but they shifted the order of witnesses Tuesday afternoon. They changed after defense attorneys played a wiretapped phone call where Gilley said he would give a $50,000 bonus to his female lobbyist if she would expose herself to a state senator to secure his vote for gambling legislation. Lobbyist Jennifer Pouncy testified she ignored Gilley's remark. That wrapped up three days of testimony by Pouncy.
Gilley and Pouncy have pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and are helping the prosecution
