The president of Talladega College is asking the city to close some streets after a gunshot wounded a student last week.
Campus officials say last Friday night someone standing just off campus fired a shot that wounded a student in front of Crawford Hall, a dormitory. The student, a freshman, is expected to make a full recovery. Talladega College president Billy Hawkins is asking the city of Talladega to close four city streets running through the campus. "Now we're getting a lot of traffic to flow through here, that is not connected with the college, and we want to make sure that our campus is safe for those students who are enrolled here, so that brought up those concerns," Jaqueline Paddio with Talladega College Student Affairs said. Campus officials say campus police have found guns belonging to several people who have come onto the campus, but who did not belong at the school.
