Authorities say a lawyer from Anniston drowned while diving in Glencoe.
Deputy Coroner Michael Head stated that 60-year-old Randy Brooks was at Dive Land in Glencoe Sunday to practice diving skills for a trip to Mexico.
Dive Land owner John Valdez Jr. says he was getting ready to leave around 2 p.m. and went to check on Brooks.
Head says Valdez found Brooks sitting on a rock in six feet of water. He was wearing a weight belt, his regulator was out of his mouth and his diving mask was still on.
Brooks had been a certified advanced diver for about 25 years.
Head says a preliminary autopsy confirmed that Brooks drowned and his death will be ruled an accident. Brooks' equipment will be checked for malfunctions.
