The Auburn Tigers can't stop the bleeding, or anybody's offense. The Tigers lost their third straight game 41-20 to Ole Miss on Saturday and they are now 1-5 on the year. Hugh Freeze picked up his first SEC victory as the Rebels head coach behind his quarterback Bo Wallace, who accounted for four touchdowns on the day and led an offense that accounted for 451 total yards.
Wallace threw for a touchdown, ran for two more and even caught a touchdown in the first quarter of the game. He was 17 of 22 passing for 226 yards and rushed for 39 yards to go along with his 25-yard touchdown catch. Jeff Scott had 207 total yards in the win after rushing for 137 yards on 21 carries and catching three passes for 70 yards. Auburn gave Clint Mosely his first start of the season and he finished 11 of 18 passing for 112 yards and an interception.
Tigers' running back Tre Mason ran for two touchdowns in the first half and finished the game with 82 yards on 18 carries. First-year offensive coordinator for Auburn, Scott Loeffler, saw his offense stymied for only 60 yards in the second half and 213 for the game.
The game was tied 17-17 at halftime after Auburn stormed back from a 14-0 deficit, scoring 17 unanswered points before Ole Miss kicked a field goal at the end of the half to tie the game. Auburn would score just three more points in the game compared to the Rebels' 24 second-half points. Through six games this season, Auburn has been outscored 62-3 in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers will travel to Nashville next week to play Vanderbilt and if they don't win that game, Gene Chizik will be hard-pressed to win a single conference game this season. Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama follow the Commodores on Auburn's SEC schedule.
