Alabama rolled up 503 yards of total offense on their way to a 40-7 victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday. AJ McCarron roared out of the tunnel with an electrifying first-half performance that began when he connected on a 85-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Bell on the fourth timed play of the game. He finished the half with 198 yards passing and three touchdowns.
He played only one series in the second half. Seven different receivers recorded a catch and three grabbed a team-high four receptions each. Bell led the team in receiving yards in the game with his one catch.
Running back Eddie Lacy didn't record a carry in the second half but finished the game with 106 yards on 15 carries. Freshman T.J. Yeldon carried the ball 10 times for 63 yards.
Kicker Cade Foster continues to impress, and today he redeemed a 52-yard miss at Arkansas. In the second quarter, Foster made a 52-yarder, eclipsing his previous long of 51 yards. He added a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter. He is now 4-of-6 on the year with makes from 46, 51, 51 and 52 yards.
The defense held Florida Atlantic to 110 total yard of offense with 75 of those yards coming on the Owls final 15-play drive which ended with quarterback Graham Wilbert throwing a 6-yard touchdown to Alex Deleon.
Before the score, FAU's longest drive was 13 yards on five plays.
