Oxford Police have announced the arrest of another suspect in the Sept. 9 shooting at Papa John’s Pizza on Snow Street.
On Friday, Police arrested and charged Donquavious Russell, 18, of Hobson City with capital murder. Russell is alleged to have been involved in the fatal shooting of Papa John’s employee Barbara Exum.
This is the second arrest in connection with the incident. In December, Gadsden Police arrested Brandon Hawkins, 21. Hawkins was charged with capital murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. Anniston Police later charged Hawkins with an additional robbery charge stemming from an unrelated incident at H R’s Food Mart at 939 Clydesdale Ave. in Anniston a week after the Papa John’s shooting.
Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge said due to the ongoing investigation he could not release details about Russell’s alleged role in the incident.
A press release Monday was the first public notice from Oxford Police about involvement of a second suspect in the shooting.
