According to court documents, accused Auburn shooting suspect Desmonte Leonard has been indicted by a Lee County Grand Jury on multiple counts relating to a June shooting at an Auburn apartment complex. Court documents filed today state that Leonard was indicted on six counts on August 27, relating to the Auburn apartment shooting that killed three men and wounded three others back on June 9.
Leonard has been indicted on one count of capital murder - two or more persons, two counts of attempted murder, one count of assault first degree and two counts of assault second degree.
No additional details were filed with those documents.
Leonard is charged in connection with the shooting deaths of Demario Pitts, 20, of Opelika, Ala., Ladarious Phillips, 20, of Roanoke, Ala., and Edward Christian, 20, of Valdosta, Ga. Three others, John Robertson, 20, and Xavier Moss, 19, both of Roanoke, Ala., and Eric Mack, 20, of Cameron, S.C. were all injured in the course of the shooting. Leonard turned himself in to the U.S. Marshals Service at the Montgomery Federal Courthouse on June 11.
