The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a woman in connection to a theft related offense. According to Investigator Fred Lasseter, 29-year-old Sommer Nicole Carter is facing one count of second degree possession of a forged instrument. Carter is believed to have altered a check for cleaning a house in Hokes Bluff when the $35 check was found to have been changed to $85 before it was cashed. The victim noticed the change when the check cleared the bank. Carter was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and released on at $2,500 bond.
