It was a frightening, dangerous situation in St Clair County Tuesday night when law enforcement searched for a suspect who was shooting at cars driving down the road. The incident happened around 9:00 p.m. near the Chevron gas station off Highway 78, near the Brompton exit off I-20. St Clair County deputies and Moody police used dogs to search for the suspect. Two cars had damage from the flying bullets. Murray Scoggins is one of the drivers whose car was hit. He says as he approached a stop sign, he heard the gunshots and saw the shooter standing on the side of the road. The bullet hit the driver side of the car, very close to his head. Law enforcement blocked off Highway 78 last night from the interstate on down to where the shootings happened. Armed deputies wearing bullet proof vests were on foot near the scene. A person of interest is now in custody and the highway is open.
