Authorities say part of an old landfill has caught fire in northeast Alabama.
Huge plumes of black smoke were visible from miles around Friday as the Bishop Landfill burned near Guntersville.
Records show the landfill is closed but used to accept household garbage and trash from the area.
At least five fire trucks responded to the blaze, but officials aren't sure of the cause of the cause of the fire. Several roads are closed in the area.
