Two Birmingham elementary schools will be consolidating. North Birmingham will be closing in August and students and teachers will begin to be schooled at Lewis Elementary. Parents and teachers do not like that idea.
District leaders believe the consolidation will save Birmingham 300,000 dollars. North Birmingham will join the Lewis staff and there will be no lay offs or deduction in class sizes.
