Authorities say all westbound lanes on a stretch of Interstate 20 were shut down early Friday morning near Oxford, causing traffic tie-ups for motorists.
Atlanta station WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/3zVcAZ) that a large sink hole had formed, and the west-bound lanes of I-20 were closed as crews tried to make repairs.
Information at the Alabama Department of transportation website (http://bit.ly/5JKrLS) says the sinkhole is at mile marker 188, which is near the Leon Smith Parkway interchange and the Oxford Exchange shopping center.
Westbound traffic is being diverted onto U.S. 78 at Exit 191, the ALDOT website says.
