Industrial Solar Power Installer Heats Up as Carbon Tax hits Mining Industry

Sun, 11 Nov 2012 14:38:02 EST

NEW SOUTH WALES, Australia November, 2012 – Families, businesses and entire industries across Australia are feeling the impact of the considerable increase in electricity costs – between 16 per cent and 20 per cent – brought about by the carbon tax. Among those expected to be hit the hardest by the Clean Energy Act are Australia's airlines, mining firms, energy companies and steel makers. And the impact is spreading further than just electricity as businesses raise prices to meet their own costs, and the price of everything seems to be on the increase. In spite of the support offered by the government to some Aussie households, the energy price increases will have a significant detrimental impact on the profitability of businesses and the industrial sector.

As was intended by the introduction of the carbon tax, the industrial sector are now feeling increased pressure to look for energy alternatives in order to remain competitive. Industrial solar power installers are gaining more traction now that Australia's famed mining industry realises how solar power can help reduce emissions, and lower the impact of the carbon tax on their bottom line. Mining industry solar power applications  such as  solar lighting, telemetry and SCADA, telecommunications and water pumping, to name a few require a relatively small investment but provide environmental, reputational and, most importantly, significant financial benefits after installation.

With the Australian government trying to reach its renewable energy target of 20% of total energy consumption by 2020*, the pressure is on for the Australian industrial sector to explore alternate energy sources, and solar power is the easiest and most cost-effective way to do so.

Andrew Wakefield of Mine Site Technologies says, 'Over the years we have contacted quite a few Solar Power companies to design and build solar powered equipment to suit our requirements. We found it hard to find anyone who had an in-depth knowledge of industrial solar power components and design, and could meet the strict regulations required by the mining industry, until we contacted Solar Power Australia. Their technical expertise, use of high quality, high efficiency products, and attention to detail make them our supplier of choice for solar products.'

Solar Power Australia is an Australian owned and operated industrial solar power company providing renewable energy solutions for the mining industry and other organisations in the industrial sector.

Brett Sutherland, Managing Director of Solar Power Australia says, 'At Solar Power Australia we are not just a household solar company like a lot of other companies - we actually come from an industrial background and are able to really service industrial clients. Our customers do not only have the option to choose from a range of packaged deals, we can also tailor an industrial solar power system specifically to their needs and budget.'
