According to the author Alexandra Barbot, who published the books in 2009, after the earthquakes in Haiti there has been increasing awareness and demand for books about her native island Haiti. To reach a world market the author has published two versions of the book on Amazon, one in French and one in English. The hard cover is still available to the public on Amazon. Other translations in German and Spanish will also be available soon to the market.

According to James Bullock a St. Augustine, Fl based Thespian, story teller, Lecturer, playwright and re-enactor: 'Tell me about Haiti is a gem'. It takes the reader on a voyage from the indigenous people to modern times. Compiled by Alexandra Barbot, the book tells the story of the island in a passionate, straight forward and objective manner. You can 'see' the history of the island come alive through the paintings and portraits done by classically trained artist Barbot. They give dignity to the original inhabitants of the island (Arawak, Carib and Taino Indians) as well as the African and Europeans that become part of a thriving colonial slave based economy. You will feel like an explorer, as you learn about the planters, slaves, Creoles and free people of color , the pirates and buccaneers and leaders of Haiti's historical past. You will learn about how Napoleon defeat on the island influences his decision to sell the Louisiana Territory to the United States. You will see How Haiti played a pivotal role in the development of the New World. A must read for educators, travelers, history buffs and school students.

The books are published by Alexandra Barbot Art Corporation, a Miami base company with following website www.mommytellmeabouthaiti.com.
