Mobile Apps for Schools Bridges Gap between Parents and Teachers

Mon, 10 Sep 2012 01:24:37 EST

WODONGA, Australia September, 2012 – The conventional ways of communication and learning are now being overhauled by the influx and rapid development of new communication technology. It has been predicted that there will be more smart phones on the earth than people by the end of 2012. About 30 million people in Australia have activated mobile phones and they are part of their everyday lives and routines. Schools and universities Australia-wide have also been infected with the smart-phone craze, with several learning institutions developing mobile apps to facilitate communication between the schools and their target publics – whether that be teachers, parents, students or community groups. www.appbudgie.com/

Victorian mobile app design company App Budgie says that schools have not only taken notice of the smart-phone craze but are leading the way with the development of unique apps to communicate with parents. Yvette Buhagiar, Founder of App Budgie says, 'Schools from Geelong, Bendigo, Albury, Myrtleford and other Australian areas have already expressed interest in developing and creating their own mobile school app. I also recently met with the Sandhurst Region for Catholic Schools to discuss the idea of creating an app for them. Sandhurst has a total of 50 schools in their region and they are working on a list of 20 schools that are willing and committed to the development of a mobile school app.'

A tailored mobile app for schools will enable them to provide open and direct communication to students, school staff and parents, helping each party to be more aware of school events and activities or to better coordinate lessons, references and many other important factors in the educational experience.

App Budgie says that the mobile apps for schools they have created are designed in a way that makes them easy to use and able to be navigated simply so that parents and teachers, who may not be as tech-savvy as the students, are able to get the hang of them quickly. Through the new apps for schools, Aussie parents will now have access to newsletters and notifications from their child's school at the touch of a button.

Standard mobile school apps will be available for download in Apple stores and in the Android Market. The trend, also known as a 'craze', of mobile apps for schools shows promise for better communication between schools, teachers, parents and students.
