Jose Bautista blasts Yost on Twitter

TORONTO -- The?? Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays??have moved on: After an exchange of hit batters, they're now trading barbs on Twitter. First, Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista posted a message Sunday night saying he had "lost a lot of respect" for Ned Yost after hearing the Royals manager praise plate umpire Jim Wolf's handling of Sunday's game. Two Blue Jays batters were hit by pitches and reliever Aaron Sanchez was ejected for retaliating by hitting Kansas City infielder Alcides Escobar. That prompted Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura to post tweets calling Bautista a "nobody" and accusing him of stealing signs. Ventura later deleted the messages.?? Bautista took the high road when asked to respond to Ventura's comments Monday. "He's a young player that could use some maturing," Bautista said. "Hopefully he focuses on playing the game and allowing his ability to create a name for himself." ...

Source: Brady will attend Deflategate settlement hearing

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will appear in person for a court-mandated Deflategate settlement hearing Aug. 12 in New York City, a source confirmed to ESPN on Monday. U.S. District Judge Richard Berman last week ordered that Brady and commissioner Roger Goodell both appear at the hearing as he continues to encourage the sides to reach a settlement in the matter of Brady's four-game suspension for his alleged involvement in deflating footballs for the AFC Championship Game in January. There had been some reports Monday that Brady might try to attend the hearing by phone, but the source insisted that the plan was always for Brady to appear in person, as the judge ordered. The next step in the Deflategate case should come Monday night or Tuesday, when the judge rules on the matter of whether the parties may submit court documents under seal or whether those documents might be made public. The documents include the transcript of Brady's June...

Adidas makes $200M bid to sign Rockets star James Harden

Adidas has made a big play for the biggest basketball sneaker free agent of the summer of 2015. The company has submitted a bid of $200 million over 13 years??to sign Houston Rockets guard James Harden, sources told Nike, whose deal with Harden recently expired, has until the end of next week to match the deal or lose him. A $200 million offer is huge, considering it represents half of what the brand paid for 11 seasons as the NBA's official uniform supplier. Earlier this year, Adidas announced that it would not fight to renew that deal, which will see its competitor Nike take over after the 2016-17 season. With incentives, if the deal is consummated, Harden could very well make more from Adidas in the coming years than the Rockets.??Harden signed an $80 million contract extension with Houston in 2012 that goes through the 2017-18 season. "We've invited James Harden to join Adidas," said Adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich in a statement....
